Important notice about WinCare and the upcoming MDS 3.0 changes

When WinCare releases MDS 3.0, both MDS 3.0 and MDS 2.0 will CO-EXIST on the same system. There will be a new MDS 3.0 button and the present MDS 2 button will remain. All new assessments for reference dates as of 10/1/2010 or later will need to be created in MDS 3.0. WinCare understands our users need to access older assessments and as such these records will remain available in MDS 2.0 from 10/1/2010 and forward.

(03/09/10) Critical: It has been found that facilities doing certain Quarterly assessments and using the Completed By in section A, are losing the residents' Advanced Directives on Face Sheet A3 in Admit. The Quarterlies that were affected are the Standard, RUGS 98, RUGS 97 and potentially State. This problem is fixed Service Release 5. If your facility is using one of the affected Quarterlies and is using the Completed By feature, then you will need to to check all your residents' Advanced Directive selections and reenter any lost information after installing the Service Release. Service Release 5 is available for download. The Service Release is replacing the MDS_2.exe released on 3/5/10. Please read the release notes to see all that is new.

(12/04/09) WinCare Integrated Version 6.1 has been released and is available for download. This update includes the 2010 ICD-9 codes, and the new Medicare CMI set. Please read ALL of the release notes before upgrading. Significant changes have been made in 6.1, that affect billing and electronic claim submission.

(09/29/09) This is a reminder for our Integrated users, to enter your new Medicare A - RUG rates by October 1st. The new rates are effective October 1st 2009. You should have received the new rates from your fiscal intermediary by now, if not contact them immediately.

(07/02/09 3:30pm Pacific Time) WinCare has been notified by the State of California that they have fixed the problem of Quarterly MDS Assessments being rejected. The problem started on 7/1/09. Facilities that have had their Quarterly Assessments rejected can mark the assessments for "Resend" in Section R, and then create a new transmission file for transmission to the State.

This update is a Vista Compatible WinCare (while still being backwards compatible with Windows 2000 and Windows XP). Many other features included as well. (9/26/08) WinCare 5.7 Service Release 15 with the new 2009 ICD-9 Codes, is available for download. The new ICD-9 codes are effective October 1st 2008. If you installed Service Release 14 earlier this month there is a smaller update that just installs the new ICD-9 codes. To determine if you have Service Release 14 installed, on the main WinCare control panel click Help and then Release Notes, the release version installed should be on the second line in the help file. The changes for Service Release 15 include: the 2009 ICD-9 codes, and an enhancement for the processing of payments from the 835 electronic remittance advice files. WinCare allows the new rates to be entered in advanced and uses the effective date of the rate to determine when it is used for billing. To enter the new rates go to Master Files, then select Acuity Payment Levels, select payor MA, now click Enter Rate Change for All APLs at Once (APL Rate Wizard), you can now enter your new rates. Help is available by clicking Help.

(6/13/08) Integrated users may have noticed this month that when you go into the Phone Book and click Internet Update to update the physician's information you are receiving an error.

The Internet Update feature in WinCare queried the CMS UPIN Registry website. CMS has closed the UPIN Registry website this month (June 2008), because the UPIN numbers are no longer used. The error in WinCare is occurring because the program can no longer talk to the website.

NPI information and address information for Physicians can be looked up at the NPPES website (National Plan and Provider Enumeration System). The URL is: https://nppes.cms.hhs.gov/NPPES/NPIRegistryHome.do

When the Service Release 13 is available, the Phone Book will be changed to open the NPI registry Search page in your web browser. Service Release 13 should be available within the next 30 days.

(5/16/08) WinCare 5.7 Service Release 12 has been released and is available for download. SR12 has required changes for electronic billing, all Integrated facilities will need to install this update by May 23, 2008 or their electronic Claim files will be rejected. (7/3/07) MIT,LLC (WinCare) has aquired the MxVision and MxCase programs from TechniGraphicS. We welcome the existing users of the Mx products to our WinCare family. MxCase is a powerful new addition to the WinCare product line, it works with WinCare and other MDS software packages. MxCase helps facilities in Case Mix states to maximize their Medicaid Case Mix reimbursement. An MxCase demo is available on our website.

(6/20/07) WinCare 5.7 Service Release 7 has been released and is available for download (15 MB). This update includes enhancemnts to make WinCare easier to use with 3rd party quality assurance services. As part of this, users can now create test transmission files if they turn on the option in Utilities. Note that backing up your data before installing this release is recommended, as this release does upgrade your databases.

(4/20/07) WinCare 5.7 Service Release 6 has been released and is available for download (11.1 MB). This update includes all fixes from the previous WinCare Service Releases as well as enhancements to MDS. Initials will now be stored with a user name and are required. Also UB-04 and being able to debit resident trust for payments are included in this service release.

(3/09/07) The Daylight Savings time change does not effect WinCare. Wincare uses the operating system's date and time.
