How do we setup NPI (National Provider ID)in WinCare? And what version of WinCare is ready for NPIs?
A:
Go to Utilities > Facility > Facility Information Screen. You enter the National Provider ID here. Once that is done, then the NPI gets automatically entered in W1 of each MDS assessment. Also, when applicable, the NPI is put in EDI transmission files/UB04s if you have the WinCare Financial Program. For clinical only users, version 5.5 and beyone is ready for NPIs. For our WinCare Financial users, WinCare 5.7 and beyond is ready for NPIs. <

Why is it important for a facility to setup their phonebook in WinCare?
A:
All the categories in the phone book (physician, dentist, insurance company etc.) that get referred to elsewhere use drop downs. The choices in the drop downs come from what is entered in the phone book module of WinCare. Therefore, if a physician is missing, or a physician needs to be removed from a drop down list, just add/remove them from phone book.
